Brief Background on this Dong O Drong Water Project.
Until Fall of 2007 the people of the Dong O Drong Village (eastern Tibet) had been dealing with a serious issue: sub-par drinking water. Home to more than fifty families, a monastery, a school and a nunnery, the people of Dong O Drong were forced to subside on water provided by an extremely contaminated drinking source. Since the Village's outset this has been an issue. For years many of the Dong O Drong residents had been experiencing negative effects from drinking this poor water (in the form of digestive and overall health issues). Furthermore, a recent scientific investigation revealed the water to be contaminated and unsafe.
Now, however, that fresh water has been brought into Dong O Drong Village, benefit has already begun and been widely felt.
